Section 508 Compliance Website
This website is the result of a comprehensive research project that I completed for a technical writing course. My professor gave our class the opportunity to select our own topics and I chose 508 because of its importance to the online world, and I knew that it would be imperative for me to be familiar with it.
I spent the better part of the a semester working on this project. While most of my time was spent on research and writing, I also worked to build a site that was inviting and welcoming but not overly technical or overwhelming for visitors who might not be as familiar as others with web design.
I built this site in Dreamweaver and worked on the graphics in Photoshop and Illustrator. I also created the three tutorials on the site in Captivate. While working on this site, I encountered a technical problem that I was unable to fix – the left side images are not visible in Internet Explorer. Therefore, while I’m proud of the content of this site, I believe that with a little bit more time and effort, I could have improved the visual appearance of the site.
